Authentic, Elegant, The House is You.

Hi again everyone!

Have you ever wished there were little features of your house that looked, or functioned differently.

“I wish the yard didn’t drain back to the garage”

“I wish the porch overhang was supported better so it didn’t sag in the middle”

“I hate the way the siding looks on that part of the house”

“Why does our house look so much worse than the neighbors?  It’s like it just doesn’t fit the neighborhood”

Have you ever had a thought run through your head that sounded something like that?  You probably missed something when you built/designed your house.  Or worse yet, has THIS happened to you?

That is where my referral for today would have come in to help.  If you have, or could find yourself in this situation, I would encourage you to get in touch with Dan, the owner of East Arbor Architecture.  He is out of Mid-Michigan and Working with an architect that appreciates little details will help you be, and ultimately stay satisfied with your hosue.  Oh, and P.S. Dan LOVES older houses, and older buildings.  Once you meet him you’ll see why his work is ‘Authentic, Elegant, East Arbor.’

Finding that ‘right place’ for Mom & Dad

December 28, 2009 Leave a comment

No I’m not talking about a vacation destination or a weekend getaway location. I am talking about deciding on a place that an elderly couple (or individual) can spend the last years of their life. Not the most uplifting of topics, but definitely one that needs to be addressed if you have parents that you want to make sure are taken care of, despite your busy lifestyle not allowing you to take care of them.

I would suggest starting off by having a look at the website A Place for Mom

They are a great service where you can have an Eldercare Advisor help you decide on important differences between types of homes, and care facilities etc. The best part is that the service doesn’t cost your family anything.

If you are in Lansing, MI I would suggest talking to a woman names Sara Szabo. Her email is saras@aplaceformom.com  She is familiar with care facilities all over the greater Mid-Michigan area. A Place for Mom’s website has a listing of people you can contact based on your location if you happen to be reading this from outside of Mid-Michigan too.

It’s an important conversation to have with ‘Senior’ members of your family, and A Place for Mom is a great way to figure everything out.
